Please Support A Cosmic Carnival for 2019

We are asking Cowley Road Carnival lovers to donate what they can to help ensure that Oxford’s largest and most exciting multi-cultural community event continues to be the best community event in the region on 7 July 2019.

Our cosmic theme will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing in July 1969 with an outer-worldly theme of Space is the Place.

We rely on the generosity of donations from the public to account for 20% of the preparations and running costs of the day which include the hiring of stages and barriers, to the costs of recruiting and training the 100 volunteers needed to help the day run smoothly. Without your support we would struggle to meet the costs of the spectacular day out.

Ian Steadman, ex Head of Development at Oxford Brookes University and his wife Felicity have kickstarted the campaign with a pledge of £100. Can YOU help us raise more? Every little helps.

Ian, who is a volunteer for Cowley Road Works, said:

“I’m supporting this campaign because as someone who has helped to raise funds for different organisations over many years I have always thought it important for fund-raisers also to be donors for the cause or institution for which they raise funds. Felicity and I are delighted to be first responders to this great project, which helps to build community spirit in East Oxford where we live and from where we derive so many benefits, not least of all during the wonderful annual Carnival.”

Carnival costs in the region of £130,000 each year and we want to make sure that Carnival and the charitable activities surrounding its preparation like school costume workshops continue to flourish so that absolutely everyone in the community can get involved in Oxford’s Big Day Out.

All donations to our Cosmic Carnival Appeal will be put towards the running costs of the Carnival in 2019.
