On the first Sunday of July, the whole community of Oxford comes together to bring colour, rhythm, art and life to the streets of Cowley Road as Carnival takes over. Run by Cowley Road Works, Cowley Road Carnival has a huge presence in the life of the city as over 50,000 Oxford residents join us each year – a third of the city – with over 700 participating in our procession and 1,000 more taking to our stages.

Carnival shares work which represents 52 unique countries and cultures thriving in Oxford today. With roots firmly in our Oxford home, Carnival reaches out across the world to celebrate culture, art, diversity and community

Our year-round programme of outreach projects and activities with schools and young people  leads up to this pinnacle point of our community coming together. We know the power of Carnival for uniting disparate communities, fostering inclusion and engaging those who face hardship in their everyday lives.
