THE PROCESSION

The procession is always one of the star attractions of Carnival Day. Hundreds of people take part in their groups including many of the schools from the area, Oxford Brookes University, bands of musicians and community groups.

In 2019 the procession theme was Space is the Place and  featured hundreds of people from community groups, schools, dance and music bands. We worked with four community groups in a project with Oxford Physics Department at the University of Oxford, funded by the Science Technology Facilities Council. The groups – from Oxford Spires Academy, Oxfordshire MIND, Oxford Against Cutting and ARK T, worked with artists and space scientists.

At Cowley Road Carnival 2024 on September 1st our theme was OUR NATURE OUR FUTURE
