Mini Drum Kit
Gather Your Materials and Tools
To make your colourful mini drum kit you will need:
- At least one round tins or box: ideally one four round tins of different sizes
- A sheet of tracing paper or greaseproof paper
- 4 Rubber Bands
- Paper for decoration – wrapping paper or your own designs
- Drum sticks: these could be Wooden Kebab Sticks, Pencils or a Paintbrush
The tools you will need include:
- Dishes or Small Plates to draw circles
- Sticky tape
The first stage is to decorate your tins to make them a matching drum kit.
The easiest way is to use wrapping paper, but if you like drawing or painting you could make your own music-themed covering paper!
Cover each tin, leaving the top wide open. Tuck any spare paper inside the rim, and secure with sticky tape.
Make Your Drum Skins
To make your drum skins you need tracing paper or greaseproof paper.
Use a dish or a plate which is wider than the top of your tins. It’s important that it’s bigger than your tin for the next stage…
Lay the dish face down and draw around it to make a circle on the paper:
Once you have drawn a circle for each of your tins, you can cut these out with scissors.
Now place a paper circle on top of each tin. Use a rubber band wrapped around the edge to secure it in place:
Assemble Your Drums
Sellotape your tins together to form a drum kit! Or if you made two tins – you can make bongos…
Now all you need is to grab those drum sticks – paintbrushes, pencils, kebab sticks or anything you have in the house – to play your new drum kit.
