May Morning

Virtual May Morning.

One of the great traditions of our lovely city is to celebrate May Morning, with the choir singing from the top of Magdalen College tower at 6.00 am to welcome in the spring.

We couldn’t do that this year, so the community celebrated virtually instead. You can see more   https://www.magd.ox.ac.uk/news/virtual-may-morning/

Local community band, Horns of Plenty, invited everyone to join in and welcome the Spring from home. On Friday 1st May at 8.00am Horns of Plenty band members played ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ all over the city from and people joined in. .

They chose to play ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’  because it has existing links to the Coronavirus community, celebration and thanks for the NHS, links to last year’s May Morning choir singing and to celebrate the diversity of our great city. More than ever this year the lyrics seem apt.
